Still time to join a table for Quiz Night

This Saturday, May 20, at 5:30 PM the St Andrew’s community comes together for  Quiz Night, a time of merriment, shenanigans, and friendly competition.

Everyone at that table dresses up in “costume” and brings a potluck dish for the table. Themes can be elaborate or simple. At each table there will be an envelope for any additional funds (optional) a person wants to put toward the ‘dessert dash’ that is full of all sorts of wonderful desserts. After shared appetizers and eating dinner with your table-mates, the quiz begins!

Cost: $12 per person—Participants: Choose a theme, decorate your table and provide food and utensils for your table. Coffee and water are provided. Each table brings a dessert for the dessert dash.

If you missed the sign-up this Sunday, call the Church Office to secure a spot.

Vestry votes to support cathedral renovation

St. Mark’s Cathedral in Seattle serves as a house of prayer, open to all people, wherever they are on their spiritual journey. The cathedral also serves as a staging ground for social justice. And in the great tradition of historic European cathedrals, St. Mark’s strives to serve as a commons, a place of worship and gathering for the Diocese of Olympia and a center for reasoned discourse and respectful dialogue for the broader community.

While the ministries of St. Mark’s are vibrant and growing, the facilities are badly in need of revitalization and improvement. In order for St Mark’s to live out its mission, several construction projects are needed to maintain structural integrity and make it easier to “open their doors to all.”

The St. Mark’s Cathedral parish has already raised $7.2 million on its own, but they need our help. The Vestry at St. Andrew’s has pledged 1% of our giving in 2017 (the portion that went to theological education). They invite individual parishioners to contribute in addition to this pledge. More information is available at the St. Mark’s donation web page.

Bishop Greg visits St. Andrew’s today

Bishop Greg Rickel will be our guest today for both services. Please join us so that as many of our parish family as possible are there to welcome him and to celebrate the baptisms and confirmations of new members of the church.

Bishop Greg will preside and preach at both services. He will be baptizing, confirming and receiving all of those in our parish who are looking to formalize their place in our community.

Afterward, he will be meeting with clergy and staff and having lunch with the Vestry. This is his chance and our chance to interact and exchange information about where St. Andrew’s and the Diocese are focusing their missions.

Please make Bishop Greg feel welcome.
