St. Andrew’s hosted homeless families

During the second week of December, in partnership with Temple Beth El, St. Andrew’s provided shelter and meals to five families left homeless for the holidays, as part of the Family Housing Network (FHN) of Tacoma, sponsored by Catholic Community Services. We are working to increase our hospitality, with the goal of hosting families twice a year. Thanks to all of the parishioners who contributed time and food to this effort.

FHN receives referrals for its family shelter program from Coordinated Entry (253 682-3401). The program offers services to a maximum of 5 families at any one time. Families utilize our Day Center facilities for showers, laundry, telephones, cooking, relaxing, and case management. In the evenings, a network of 27 local churches and schools provide dinner, sleeping accommodations, and breakfast, rotating between host sites each week. An individualized housing plan is developed with each family.
